Original recipe card for Golden Cream Filling

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cake flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 2, slightly beaten egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons cake flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt in top of double boiler.
  2. Add 1 1/2 cup milk.
  3. Place over boiling water and cook 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Pour small amount of mixture over 2 slightly beaten egg yolks, stirring vigorously.
  5. Return to double boiler and cook 2 minutes longer.
  6. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and cool.
