Original recipe card for Pecan Brittle

Ingredients

  • 1 Cupful Chopped Pecans
  • 1 Tablespoonful Butter
  • 3 Cupfuls Light Brown Sugar

Instructions

  1. Put the dry sugar into an iron skillet and set on the fire.
  2. Stir constantly until it melts and browns into caramel.
  3. Add the butter and put in the pecans.
  4. Stir briskly, letting the mixture boil several minutes, or until it rolls away from the skillet in stirring.
  5. Wet a marble slab or bread board till the water stands on it slightly.
  6. Pour the candy on this and spread out in a thin sheet.
  7. When cold it will be very brittle and easily removed from the board.
