Original recipe card for Virginia Waffles

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup White Corn Meal
  • 1 1/2 cups Boiling Water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 1/2 cups Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Melted Butter
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • Two Eggs

Instructions

  1. Cook corn meal in boiling water, 30 minutes; add salt.
  2. Add milk, sugar, butter and flour, mixed with baking powder; add eggs, whites and yolks beaten separately.
  3. Cook on hot well greased waffle-iron.
