Original recipe card for Apple Fritters

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • Two Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • Four Apples
  • 1/2 gill Wine
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Nutmeg (Extract)

Instructions

  1. Sift dry ingredients together; add beaten eggs and milk; beat till smooth.
  2. Then take 4 large sound apples, peeled, cored and cut into 4 slices.
  3. Place slices of apples in bowl with sugar, wine and extract; cover with plate; set aside to steep for two hours.
  4. Dip each slice in batter, fry to light brown in plenty of hot lard; serve with sugar.
