Ingredients

  • One Cabbage
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • To taste Water
  • To taste Salt

Instructions

  1. Strip off the outer leaves of the cabbage, cut in quarters, cut out the stalk.
  2. Soak in salted water 1 hour.
  3. Drain.
  4. Have kettle of rapidly boiling water.
  5. Add the baking soda and cabbage.
  6. Cover and keep at a galloping boil.
  7. Unless very old, cabbage will be done in 1 hour.
  8. Press out all the water.
  9. Season well, put in a hot dish.
