Original recipe card for Tomato Jelly Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 can Stewed and strained tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2/3 (two-thirds) box Gelatine
  • 1/2 (one-half) cup Cold water

Instructions

  1. Soak gelatine in cold water for fifteen minutes.
  2. Add salt and sugar to stewed and strained tomatoes.
  3. Pour into small cups and chill.
  4. Serve on lettuce leaf with mayonnaise dressing.
  5. If you like, add 2 slices of onion, a little celery, and a few peppers. Do not cook with tomatoes.
  6. The clear tomatoes taste more like fresh tomatoes.
