Original recipe card for Corn Bread

Ingredients

  • One Egg
  • 2 or more cups White Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Soda
  • 2 cups Sour Milk
  • To mix Corn Meal

Instructions

  1. Have the egg well beaten.
  2. Mix the flour, salt, soda and the sour milk, then stir in enough sifted corn meal to make a pouring batter.
  3. Pour into well greased pans and bake in a hot oven.
  4. More eggs may be used, and are an improvement.
  5. If the milk is very sour, more soda should be used, or if it is fresh and sweet, less will be needed.
