Original recipe card for Pickles with Celery

Ingredients

  • 6 Large pickles
  • 3 stalks Celery
  • 3 slices or small whole onions Onion
  • 1 quart Vinegar
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/3 cup Salt

Instructions

  1. Soak large 6" pickles in cold or ice water 5 hours.
  2. Cut lengthwise with peeling into about 5 pieces.
  3. Pack closely in jars with 3 stalks celery and 3 slices onion (or small whole onions).
  4. Drain juice after packing.
  5. Boil vinegar, sugar, water, and salt well.
  6. Pour over pickles and seal.
  7. Let stand 4 weeks.
