Ingredients
- 5 pounds Grapes
- 1 pound Sugar
- 3/4 quart Water
Instructions
- Wash the grapes thoroughly in cold water, weigh allowing 3/4 of a quart of water to every 5 lbs. grapes, boil until the skins and pulp are thoroughly separated and boiled down.
- Make a bag of double cheese cloth large enough to hold all the juice that would fill a small bread pan, tie the top tight with a strong cord and hang up on a strong nail so that it can drip into the pan.
- Let it drip for 14 hours.
- Then add the sugar and boil again 2 minutes.
- Get the bottles ready, heat them gradually from warm to hot water and fill with the juice.
- Then cork, melt paraffin wax and dip the cork and neck of the bottle into this.
- If you buy the grapes when cheap, one bottle will cost you about 6 cents.
