Original Recipe Card
Ingredients
- 2 pounds Beef
- 1 pint Cold Water
- 2 tablespoons Flour
- 1 pint Boiling Water
- 1 cup Diced Carrot
- 1 pint Diced Potatoes
- To season Salt
- To season Pepper
Instructions
- Cut the beef in small pieces.
- Melt some of the fat in a pan, brown in it 1/2 the meat.
- Put the rest of the meat in a kettle with the pint of cold water, let stand 20 minutes, then heat slowly.
- Transfer browned meat to kettle; thicken fat with the flour, add the boiling water and stir; when thick strain into kettle.
- Add carrots, cover and simmer.
- When half done, add potatoes.
- Season well.
