Ingredients

  • Codfish
  • Potatoes
  • To fry Lard
  • Butter

Instructions

  1. Put the fish in cold water, set on back of stove; when water gets hot, pour off and put on cold again, till fish is fresh enough; then pick it apart.
  2. Boil the potatoes and mash them; mix fish and potatoes together while potatoes are hot, taking 2/3 potatoes and 1/3 fish.
  3. Put in plenty of butter; make into cakes and fry in plenty of lard.
  4. Have the lard very hot before putting in the cakes.
