Original Recipe Card

Ingredients
- as needed Brown Bread
- 3/4 lb. Brown Sugar
- 3/4 lb. Figs
- 1/4 lb. Seeded Raisins
- 1/2 Lemon
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
Instructions
- Cut the bread into very thin slices and spread with the following mixture:
- Boil together one cup of water, the juice of one-half of a lemon, the seeded raisins, brown sugar and figs.
- Simmer until very soft; then add the vanilla.
- Beat to a smooth paste with a wooden spoon and spread on the bread.
