Original recipe card for French Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 quart Flour
  • 1 teaspoonful Salt
  • 2 teaspoonfuls Baking Powder
  • 1 tablespoonful Butter
  • 1 pint Milk

Instructions

  1. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder.
  2. Melt butter and add to milk; stir this into flour, etc.
  3. With spoon, mix to a smooth dough, easily handled.
  4. Flour molding board, turn out dough, give one or two quick kneadings to give smoothness.
  5. Divide into pieces size of an egg.
  6. Form each into a short, thick, tapering roll.
  7. Put together by twos, side by side, pinching ends together a little.
  8. Place on flat greased pans.
  9. Brush with milk.
  10. Bake in very hot oven.
