Original Recipe Card
Ingredients
- 1 quart Flour
- 3 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1 teaspoon (scant) Salt
- Size of an egg Butter or Lard
- One Medium-Sized Potato
Instructions
- Mix flour and baking powder and salt, rub in butter, add potato grated in the flour.
- After the butter is well mixed, stir in milk and knead to the consistency of soft biscuit-dough.
- Break off pieces large enough to close over 4 quarters of an apple (or other fruit as desired) without rolling.
- Lay in an earthen dish and steam until the fruit is tender.
- Serve with sauce.
