Original recipe card for Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 2 cups bread crumbs
  • 1 quart scalded milk
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Soak 2 cups bread crumbs in 1 quart scalded milk.
  2. Cook 1 cup brown sugar with 4 tablespoons butter until well browned.
  3. Add to cooled mixture.
  4. Add 2 eggs slightly beaten, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
  5. Pour in baking dish 1 inch deep.
