Original recipe card for Currant Coffee Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cupful black coffee
  • 1/2 cupful milk
  • 2 teaspoonfuls baking powder
  • 2 cupfuls flour
  • 1 cupful currants
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cupful butter
  • 1/2 cupful sugar
  • 1 teaspoonful powdered cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Beat the butter and sugar to a cream, add the egg well beaten, the coffee, the milk, the flour sifted with the baking powder, and the currants well cleaned.
  2. Turn into a square, greased baking-pan and sprinkle the top of the cake thickly with sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Bake in a moderate oven for three-quarters of an hour.
