Original recipe card for German Coffee Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • Two Eggs
  • 2/3 cup Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Frosting Flour
  • 4 tablespoons Frosting Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Frosting Cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons Frosting Butter

Instructions

  1. Sift together flour, salt, sugar, baking powder. Rub in butter.
  2. Beat eggs, add milk, stir into dry mixture, adding more milk if necessary to mix to very stiff batter.
  3. For the frosting mix flour, sugar, and cinnamon. Rub in butter until it is crumbly.
  4. Spread thickly over top of dough; bake about 1/2 hour in moderate oven.
