Original recipe card for Peach Short Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 (well beaten) Eggs
  • Salt
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add eggs and salt, then alternately, milk and flour into which baking powder has been sifted.
  3. Bake in layer-cake tins and use when cold.
  4. Pick, hull, pare and slice peaches.
  5. Sweeten, spread between layers of short cake, and serve with cream, or a cold custard.
