Original recipe card for Sand Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Butter
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • three Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Soda
  • 1 (level) teaspoon Cream of Tartar
  • 2 cups Flour
  • to mix Milk

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar, beat in the eggs and sifted flour, soda and cream of tartar.
  2. Add milk enough to make a firm dough.
  3. Turn out on floured board, roll out to 1/2 inch thickness.
  4. Cut with a cookie cutter, sprinkle with granulated sugar and bake in shallow pans, 1/2 inch apart in a quick oven.

Notes

If dough is too thin, more flour should be added.
