Original Recipe Card

Ingredients
- 1 cup Butter
- 2 cups Sugar
- three Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Soda
- 1 (level) teaspoon Cream of Tartar
- 2 cups Flour
- to mix Milk
Instructions
- Cream the butter and sugar, beat in the eggs and sifted flour, soda and cream of tartar.
- Add milk enough to make a firm dough.
- Turn out on floured board, roll out to 1/2 inch thickness.
- Cut with a cookie cutter, sprinkle with granulated sugar and bake in shallow pans, 1/2 inch apart in a quick oven.
Notes
If dough is too thin, more flour should be added.
