Original Recipe Card
Ingredients
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 1 cup Milk
- 3 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 3 scant cups Flour
- 1 teaspoon Lemon Extract
- 1 cup Sugar (Cocoanut Filling)
- 1 cup Sweet Cream
- 1/2 cup Chopped Cocoanut
- 1 scant teaspoon Butter (Cocoanut Filling)
- 1 teaspoon Corn Starch
Instructions
- Cream the sugar and butter, add the milk and baking powder, sifted with the flour.
- Beat together and add the extract.
- Bake in layer cake tins in a quick oven.
- For the filling, boil together the sugar and cream until it spins a thread, add the cocoanut and butter, lastly the cornstarch which has been wet with a little milk.
- Boil up 2 minutes and spread between cake layers, while warm.
