Original recipe card for German Apple Cakes

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 pint Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 (beaten) Egg
  • to mix Milk
  • several Apples
  • to taste Cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Mix and sift flour, powder, and salt.
  2. Rub in butter, add egg and milk to make a very thick batter.
  3. Spread one inch deep in greased shallow tin.
  4. Have ready several pared, cored and quartered apples.
  5. Press points into dough, sprinkle thickly with sugar mixed with cinnamon.
  6. Bake in hot oven.
