Original recipe card for Butter Cakes

Ingredients

  • 1 quart Flour
  • 1 teaspoonful Salt
  • 2 teaspoonfuls Baking Powder
  • 3 tablespoons Butter
  • To mix Milk

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, salt, baking powder, rub in butter.
  2. Mix to a soft dough with milk, roll out 3/4 inch thick, cut in round cakes.
  3. Lay on a moderately hot greased griddle and when pale brown turn and brown on other side.
  4. Tear open, butter liberally and send to table.
