Original Recipe Card

Ingredients
- 1 cake yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 cup lukewarm water
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- pinch of salt
- 1/3 cup shortening, melted
- 1 egg
- 5 1/2 cups flour
Instructions
- Let yeast, sugar, and lukewarm water stand for 10 minutes.
- Scald milk with sugar and a pinch of salt.
- Add melted shortening and egg.
- Mix with flour and let stand for 2 hours.
- Use yeast from the first step.
