Original recipe card for Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 cake yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/3 cup shortening, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 5 1/2 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Let yeast, sugar, and lukewarm water stand for 10 minutes.
  2. Scald milk with sugar and a pinch of salt.
  3. Add melted shortening and egg.
  4. Mix with flour and let stand for 2 hours.
  5. Use yeast from the first step.
